Delicious! I can't believe I waited so long to go here! The inside is nice and looks newly decorated. The food is SUPER DELICIOUS! They have great lunch specials, and the food comes out quickly. This is my new "go-to" place! It's casual enough I feel welcome coming with my baby too, so that's always a plus!
Try it if you haven't!! -

Stopping through from Austin, I decided to try and search for Hainanese Chicken and Rice since I have been craving it since visiting the Bay Area. Couldn't find a place in Austin so made this stop while on my way to Sugarland.
The Hainanese Chicken and Rice here definitely satisfied my cravings. The chicken was cooked well and the flavor of the rice provided a great complement to the chicken. It's served with a spicy dipping sauce that was okay. I didn't really use it too much. Definitely would recommend to people wanting for a simple Chicken and Rice in the Sugarland area.
The only complaint I have of Singapore Cafe was the service wasn't great. The stars I give don't reflect that, I rate just on the food if it's a restaurant. Our total time there was more than an hour and a half. Almost an hour waiting for food. I don't know if we just got lost in the dash before dinner or if it was the food we ordered, but many people who arrived after us were being served before us. We also overheard them saying they ran out of the Hainanese Chicken and Rice when we were paying. -

This place was ok. We tried a few dishes:
Roti Canai - roti was fluffy but a little on the oil side. Went well with the curry sauce.
Hainanese Chicken Rice - rice was flavorful and the chicken was cooked well - chili sauce wasn't terrible spicy
Curry Chicken - not bad but also not memorable.
Over all the service was really good and the food came out crazy fast, but the experience was just average. I expect a lot more heat from the dishes labeled spicy.
Nice bang for the buck. -

Roti doesn't have much flavor.
Eggplant with sambal is very good
Water Spinach with garlic is fine. Always the same no matter where I go.
He does not hear well, so be sure to review your order. -

I love this cozy little café! Located next door to Shipley's Donuts in the Highlands Square plaza, this is definitely a hidden SL gem!
Here's what I loved:
1. Roti canai- the dipping sauce was incredible. Yum, yum, yum. I could easily put away 2 servings of this on my own.
2. Fried kway teow- this was recommended by our waiter and did not disappoint. Two types of noodles stir fried in a hot, hot wok- great char and plenty of seafood is included. Comes with squid and shrimp. DELICIOUS!
3. Hainanese chicken rice- I was pleasantly surprised to find that the chicken was served warm (and without ginger- another score). It is perfectly seasoned and so flavorful! I enjoyed this dish more than I thought I would. Comes with a hot sauce that's absolutely wonderful. A must get!
Also tried the curry puff but thought it was so so ($1.30). Other than that, this place is great! Cannot wait to return- definitely a family owned place and their food has a wonderful homemade quality to it.
Update: service here is absolutely 100% PHENOMENAL. Love Singapore Cafe so much!!!
